The Miailhe family, owners of the Château and wishing to return to their roots, created Château Carrosse Martillac in Martillac in the heart of Pessac Léognan. Indeed, for several years, the cultivation of vines and the production of wine were the main activity of the family during the Graves era, well before the Pessac Léognans. The wine estate was abandoned in 1972 for a completely different activity: the cultivation of lily of the valley. As a reminder, on the label of Château Carrosse Martillac wine, lily of the valley appears in the coat of arms of the commune of Martillac. The origin of the name Château Carrosse Martillac comes from a historic path in the town of Martillac: chemin du Carrosse. At the time this path served the Châteaux du Thil, Smith Haut Lafitte and Rochemorin. Also, on this path is the place called “la Salle” , the location of Château Carrosse Martillac.
Tasting notes
Dark garnet, the color is promising and very deep. The fresh nose evoking black fruits (blackcurrant, redcurrant) gradually opens up with agitation to give way to grilled, toasted and roasted notes, bringing complexity. The wine is supported by the contribution of the breeding which respects the bouquet of fresh fruits. The freshness is perceptible from the attack then the slightly tight tannins support the fruit. Powerful, tasty and delicious, the material announces good potential dominated by freshness.
