Grape Variety
Appellation: Volnay, Burgundy
Comment
The intendant of Louis XIV declared in 1666 that “Volnay is a land of hills, planted with vines, where the best wine of Burgundy is produced” (Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy). Although some crus have surpassed Volnay in fame, this appellation remains among the most prestigious in the Côte de Beaune.
Tasting notes
This cuvée from Dubreuil Fontaine is full of charm, lightness, delicacy, and complexity. It is this elegance that captivated me when I discovered this estate during the “Grands Jours de Bourgogne,” the must-attend event for any professional and enthusiast of great Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs
Food pairing
What dishes would pair well with this Volnay? Opt for a stuffed poultry dish with a mushroom sauce. For a vegetarian option, prepare pumpkin ravioli with truffle.
