Grape Variety
Appellation: Menetou Salon, Loire Valley
Comment
Menetou-Salon is an appellation that has long remained in the shadow of its neighbour, Sancerre. The wines produced there are very similar in style, with a saline, taut, and mineral character. Certain parcels can even produce great wines suitable for ageing. Just like in Sancerre, Sauvignon Blanc is the grape variety for whites and Pinot Noir for reds.
Tasting notes
Domaine Pellé is one of the most illustrious and recognised estates in Menetou-Salon. The Morogues Blanc cuvée is a blend of 7 parcels located on the highest slopes of the appellation, in Morogues. On the palate, this wine stands out for its purity, with citrus notes and a fine acidity that gives it a precise and direct character. The finish is elegant and saline.
Food pairing
As for pairings, this cuvée pairs perfectly with a fillet of cod with dill and lemon. For a vegetarian option, opt for a pea and mint velouté, accompanied by bruschettas with fresh goat’s cheese.
