Comment
Clos Floridène was established by the renowned oenologist Denis Dubourdieu and his wife, Florence, in 1982. It quickly elevated the estate to prominence within the Graves appellation. After his father’s passing, his son Jean-Jacques took over, maintaining the same commitment to quality.
Tasting notes
The red cuvée from Clos Floridène has excellent ageing potential. I recommend waiting at least 5 years before opening it. If you can’t wait, decant it for 2 hours or simply remove the cork the evening before. This wine can be stored for at least 10 years, or even longer depending on the vintage. Though it has structure from oak barrel ageing, it is not overly tannic; balance is the key here.
Food pairing
I suggest pairing it with a roast beef. For a vegetarian option, choose dishes with lamb’s lettuce and spices to enhance the flavours.
