Grape Variety
Appellation: Cote Chalonnaise, Burgundy
Comment
Burgundy wines are among the most sought-after in the world, but their production is limited to small plots, making them rare. Prices have soared, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to enjoy these wines on a modest budget.
If you’re looking for a good Pinot Noir from Burgundy at an affordable price, head to the Côte Chalonnaise. This wine region in Burgundy, still somewhat overshadowed by its illustrious neighbours, is home to some wonderful estates. Make a stop at Château de Chamilly, which has become a hidden gem for wine lovers, as evidenced by the ‘Trophée Jeunes Talents’ they received in 2019.
Tasting notes
This regional Pinot Noir is free of frills: it’s simple, balanced, light, and fruity, while still retaining its Burgundian identity. It’s delicious, and you’ll want to pour yourself another glass once the first is empty.
Food pairing
To accompany this cuvée, prepare a pork tenderloin with pommes dauphines. For a vegetarian option, a courgette and tomato gratin with Parmesan is also a great choice.
