The Cuvelier family, owner of Clos Fourtet (1er Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Emilion) and Château Poujeaux (AOC Moulis en Médoc), has acquired two Grands Crus Classés located in the heart of Saint-Emilion: Les Grandes Murailles (2 ha adjoining Clos Fourtet) and Côte de Baleau (18 ha including 15 ha classified). She also took a stake in Le Clos Saint-Martin (1.3 ha) of which Sophie Fourcade (former director and co-owner of the 3 estates) remains the majority shareholder. A discreet wine but of significant size, Côte de Baleau is located on the plateau, between clay-limestone and clay-sandy areas. With beautiful regularity, without trying to reach peaks of intensity, it quite quickly develops a distinctive, complete, expressive character.
Tasting notes
Subtle expression of raspberry and black cherry, tinged with floral notes, delicate and fresh tannins... the wines charm from their first years in the bottle but are also suitable for aging
